I have to admit it. I’ve had fun the last 14 years. Starting a company, not knowing where it would take me. Hiring our first employee, that was kinda scary…Moved away from Delphi and jumped aboard the .net train, without a second of regret. Became a MVP because the company allowed me to spend a lot of time on the community. Saw my first Surface computer while attending a MVP summit in Redmond. Became one of the first 4 Surface MVP’s because the company allowed me to work with that technology extensively and talk about it at several events. Met a lot of people, learned a lot of new things and had a blast.
But…. after 14 years it’s time to go. The company has grown. I have grown. We didn’t grow in the same way. I want to focus on new things like touch, Surface, Windows 7, NUI, etc. For me, the only way to grow in this direction is to leave the company. It’s like having children I guess: there comes a time when you have to let them go. I am just not sure if I am the kid, or is it the company? Never mind: the result is the same.
Starting January 1st I am no longer the principal architect for Detrio but I will be an independent consultant. I will focus on all things Microsoft but with a specialization in touch, Surface and WPF/Silverlight.
So there you go. It’s time to say goodbye to my colleagues. And thank them for the past years. I am sure we will run into each other a lot, after all: it’s a small world!
I am looking forward to this adventure!
